Back Pain Sleep exists to help people who live with back pain, neck pain, occipital neuralgia and tension headaches sleep and live more comfortably. This page sets out how our content is created, who creates it, and the standards we hold ourselves to.
Who writes for us
Our guides and reviews are written from genuine, long-term lived experience. The person behind this site has managed chronic neck pain and occipital neuralgia for more than twenty years. We write under a pen name to protect our privacy, but the experience, the products and the opinions are entirely real. We are not a faceless content agency and we do not publish bulk articles written by people who have never had these conditions.
How we research and write
Every article starts with a real question we have faced ourselves, such as how to sleep through a flare-up or which pillow actually keeps the neck supported. We combine that first-hand experience with careful research from reputable medical sources, and we write in plain English so it is genuinely useful. If a claim is not something we have lived or cannot support, we leave it out.
Medical accuracy and sources
Back pain, nerve pain and headaches are health topics, so we treat accuracy seriously. Where we describe symptoms, causes or treatments, we draw on established sources such as the NHS, the Cleveland Clinic and peer-reviewed guidance, and we link to them where helpful. We are not doctors, we never pretend to be, and we always encourage readers to speak to a qualified healthcare professional about their own situation. Our content is for information only and is not medical advice.
Independence from advertisers
No brand pays us to write a positive review, and no company has any say over our verdicts. We recommend products because they helped us or stand up to scrutiny, and we say plainly when something is not worth the money.
Affiliate relationships
Some of our links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the site running. It never changes which products we recommend or what we say about them. You can read more on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Updates and corrections
We review our most important guides regularly and update them as products change or our understanding improves. When we make a meaningful correction, we update the article rather than quietly leaving it wrong. The date at the top of each article reflects its most recent substantive update.
Tell us if we get something wrong
If you spot something inaccurate or out of date, we want to know. Please get in touch through our contact page and we will look into it.
